The program has been designed specifically to support senior biology subjects and will run in school hours on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 March 2026. The Deception Bay Environmental Hub

Picture
The Deception Bay Environmental Hub is located at 7 Joseph Crescent, Deception Bay and is located on the old Fisheries Research Site. It is a one level building with a wheelchair accessibility ramp at both ends of the building as well as stairs, 4 restrooms and a carpark. There is a bus park located at the front of the building and a car park behind. There will be "Science by the Bay" displays at the entrance and on the deck area, The Microscope display will be contained in the next room, which will be partitioned in order to minimise distractions between display areas. For teachers, there is Wi-Fi at the Hub, and the password can be provided if required.

Risk Management

Teachers or group supervisors are responsible for the supervision of students whilst at the Hub. There are 4 toilets at the facility, and the displays and activities are under one roofed area as shown in the floor plan above. There is a basic first aid kit onsite and a designated assembly point in the carpark adjacent to the entry. Volunteers will have blue cards and there will be a "first aid certified" person onsite during school hours.
