Bird Surveys at Clontarf Eco-Path
Background:
Since the spring of 2015, there has been a bird survey conducted at the Silcock Street Park every quarter. The site is characterised by Eucalypt, Casuarina, Melaleuca as well as saltmarsh and mangrove habitats in the wetland areas and provides habitat for many species of birds. The Birders of the South Pine River have helped REF by conducting surveys at the site of the Eco-project at Silcock Street, Clontarf. The surveys have now been running for nearly 9 years (39 total surveys) with 146 different species of birds observed in the area. The survey results underline the importance of our natural wetlands and forest areas for our birdlife and the values of this site in terms of productivity and biodiversity.
