The waterfront at Deception Bay has a number of public amenities including a heritage trail, boat ramps and picnic facilities. It is also a wonderful and accessible opportunity to take in many of the key plants associated with the Mangrove Forests of Moreton Bay. Within an easy walk it is possible to see 6 of the 8 species of Mangroves found in the Bay and if you look carefully you will also see examples of the Mangrove lily. Better still, take a walk with "REF's Mangrove Man", Geoffrey Redman and he will show you all sorts of plants and all just a step off the land's edge!
"What a great place to start an educational activity on the mangroves of Moreton Bay!".
.The Redcliffe Environmental Forum acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country in and around Moreton Bay and the Redcliffe Peninsula, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. It pays respect to them and their cultures, and to Elders both past, present and emerging..
