When Keith and Michelle connected with REF, they had an idea to start a new Bushcare group with our help and the Moreton Bay Regional Council. The site is located at the shore end of Maine Terrace at Deception Bay. The site itself is comprised of a mangrove-lined creek with a narrow buffer zone comprising of Eucalypt, Casuarina and Melaleuca. There is also a layer of saltmarsh vegetation adjacent to the creek edge (marine couch along with sedges and seablite). The creek was loaded with fish and crustaceans moving in with the incoming tide.  Prone to rubbish from further up the creek and drain system along with the presence of weeds including Rhodes and Signal Grasses, Mile-a-Minute and Groundsel, work from a dedicated team could make a big difference to the quality of the site. With 18 volunteers attending this first session, it is hoped this site could become a registered Bushcare site, especially with so many locals willing to make a contribution.
.The Redcliffe Environmental Forum acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country in and around Moreton Bay and the Redcliffe Peninsula, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community.  It pays respect to them and their cultures, and to Elders both past, present and emerging..
